Our free, award-winning publication on local plant knowledge

In the following publication we have gathered the best and the brightest of local plants that do well in our area. Using these plants in your landscape will help minimize water consumption, minimize pest and disease problems, and some selections will attract birds, butterflies and hummingbirds to your landscape. We have also added a section on invasive and/or poisonous plants that should be avoided.

We are proud to announce that this publication was recently honored with a 1st Place Award for Medium-Sized Publications from the Texas Master Gardeners Association, 2008 Awards Program!

To make the downloads faster, we have split the publication into chapters and reduced the file resolution. These are PDF files and the AdobeĀ® ReaderĀ® is required to view them. A high-resolution, print version of In Our Coastal Gardens is available for pickup at the Aransas County Extension Office, 611 E. Mimosa, Rockport, TX, 361-790-0103.
